Meet Dave
Dave’s journey in the jewelry industry started at age eight in his father’s store, LaRog Jewelers, on Portland’s east side. By 27, Dave and his brother Rick expanded the family business to the westside, turning LaRog into a beloved local institution. After a successful career, the brothers retired on February 14, 2024. While Rick embraced retirement, Dave realized he wasn’t ready to hang up his jeweler’s loupe. So, he partnered with his long-time friend and colleague, Jeremy, whom he’s worked with for over 30 years.
Dave says, “This is the most fun I’ve ever had—our new concept lets clients buy like we buy, direct and without any sales pressure.”

Meet Jeremy
Jeremy’s journey in the jewelry industry began in Birmingham, England, where he honed his craft as an apprentice goldsmith in the renowned Jewelry Quarter. During his six-year apprenticeship, Jeremy also achieved the prestigious title of Fellow of the Gemological Association of Great Britain, solidifying his expertise in gemology.
In 1989, Jeremy brought his passion and skill to the United States, joining Dave and Rick at LaRog Brothers, where he proudly served clients for the next 35 years. After a summer of travel and plenty of time on the golf course in 2024, Jeremy and Dave realized how much they missed the industry and, most importantly, their clients. Fueled by their shared passion for fine jewelry and a commitment to excellence, The Diamond Authority was born.
Jeremy now brings decades of experience, craftsmanship, and genuine love for the jewelry business to The Diamond Authority, offering a trusted and personalized experience for clients old and new.
